OUR HISTORY:

Inland Northwest Bank was founded in 1989, opening for business on October 2nd of that year.

Initially, the bank operated from one location in downtown Spokane, Washington. Now, the bank has 11 branches, with 7 located in Washington and 4 in Idaho. Total assets have grown from less than $4 million to over $250 million. We are primarily engaged in the business of gathering local deposits and extending loans within our immediate market area. While we offer a full complement of competitively priced personal loans, the large majority of our loans have historically been made to small and medium sized businesses.

In 1991 we established a Holding Company, now named Northwest Bancorporation, Inc., that trades over-the-counter under the trading symbol NBCT. We are a publicly held company and report our quarterly and annual results to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). You can review our recent SEC filings by going to our "Investor Relations" page on this site and choosing "SEC Filings".

In 1992 we opened our 2nd branch location east of downtown, in the Spokane Valley in the community of Veradale. As is the case with 4 of our branches, the Valley branch is located within a supermarket; our supermarket branches are open extended hours. Our 3rd branch followed in 1993 and is located west of Spokane, in the community of Airway Heights, Washington. Our 4th branch, was originally located in a supermarket in the north-central area in Spokane. In 2006, we moved that branch about a half-mile away, to a location on the busy Division/Ruby Street couplet, and into a beautiful new stand-alone branch. In 1995, we opened our 5th branch, the Northpointe branch, in a rapidly growing area north of the city limits. Northpointe was our first non-supermarket location, other than our original location.

Also, in 1995, when banking regulations permitted, we were one of the first state chartered banks in the nation to establish a dual state franchise, with our opening of a 6th branch located in Post Falls, Idaho. Originally located in a supermarket setting, our Post Falls branch was relocated to a stand-alone facility in October 2004.

Our 7th branch, in the Indian Trail neighborhood in northwest Spokane, was opened in 1996 and was followed in 1997 by our 2nd stand-alone facility, at 57th and Regal in Spokane’s South Hill neighborhood. With 7 branches in Spokane County, we feel that we cover that market well. To better serve our Idaho customers, we opened the Coeur d’Alene branch, our 9th, in 1998. Originally located in the city center of Coeur d’Alene, we built a new branch in the Ironwood district in 2002; the Ironwood district is home to Kootenai Medical Center, as well as many medically-related and other professional offices.

In 1998 we purchased a mortgage company that has subsequently been merged with and into the bank. Our mortgage department serves the home purchase and refinance needs of our bank customers, as well as the community at large. Originating as much as $50 million in mortgage loans each year, we are now one of the larger mortgage loan originators in the Spokane County market. In addition, the mortgage department works with home builders to finance new housing developments in and near our primary market area.

During our first ten years we spent a lot of effort and resources developing a branch system adequate to serve the 500,000+ residents of the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene market. Over the past several years we have been working hard to enhance the bank’s management team, to recruit and employ loan officers and other employees who are knowledgeable and responsive to customer needs and to implement those technological tools that allow us to provide our customers with banking services that are second to none.

For the foreseeable future we plan to continue to do what we have done well in the past, while trying to do it even better! Banks, for the most part, sell very similar products and services; and, in a competitive market, pricing decisions are most often market driven. Consequently, all we have to distinguish ourselves from the competition is customer service. We welcome your comments regarding this website or service you have otherwise experienced in your dealings with us.
